The show kicked off with Diamond Dallas Page coming through the crowd to
the ring. He took the mic and said he was letting the Undertaker known
that he had arrived. He said he saw Taker on Smackdown and saw that he
looked pissed off. He said he should thank him for the PG footage he
showed compared to his personal collection he has. DDP said he was
coming into the big dog’s house and kicking his ass all over his own
yard. He then said that on Raw DDP will be the first WCW contracted
wrestler to step foot in Madison Square Garden. He then told Taker that
he would be in the front row so he would be easy to find. He said he
would be easy to find because he will be the one with a sign. He then
held up a sign that read “Make me Famous” and then went to his front
row seat.
Match #1: Kurt Angle vs. Christian (Semifinal Round)
Winner: Kurt Angle
Austin was in the back talking to Debra. Coachman walked in and asked
Austin about tonight and he said he was waiting for Vince to show up.
Jonathan reminded him that Vince said he was not going to be there and
Austin said Vince was just a kidder sometimes. He then told Austin the
rumor that is Jericho or Benoit takes his title, they may take the WWF
title over to WCW. Austin was shocked and has no response.
They then showed a recap of the events that have led to a possible DDP/Undertaker
confrontation.
Paul Heyman interviewed DDP at ringside and they then cut to footage of
him in the back. He was mad and said that he didn’t want people in his
personal life. He told Taker to come get some from the guy with the
sign.
Match #2: Edge vs. Rhyno (Semifinal Round)
Winner: Edge
They showed an interview from Heat with Spike Dudley and Molly Holly.
Lilian Garcia interviewed them and Spike said that the tough love his
brothers showed him was not necessary. Spike challenged Buh Buh and
D-Von to a tag team match and said he would find a partner. They went to
Spike and asked him if he had a partner. He said he did and his half
brothers approached him and talked some shit and made fun of Molly,
calling her and Spike a disappointment.
Tazz then interviewed Chris Jericho and asked him about the rumors of
him going to WCW. Chris said he was indeed aware of the rumors and he
was just going to shut the hell up concerning the entire deal.

Winner(s): The Dudley Boyz
Edge was shown in his locker room getting ready for his next match.
Christian came up and tried to talk to him and Edge snapped at him
thinking he was going to say he should be in the finals but Shane
screwed him. Christian just looked at him and wished him good luck and
said he hopes he beats Angle.
Footage of DDP was then shown again and he flipped out and told
Undertaker to come out and get a piece of him.
Billy Gunn was at WWF New York and Jim Ross asked him what he thought
about the King of the Ring tournament. He said he was the 1999 KOTR
champion and was pissed that he was not in the tournament. He said all
he cares about is himself and he walked off.
Match #4: Kurt Angle vs. Edge (Final Round)
Winner: Edge
Tazz then interviewed Chris Benoit in the backstage area. Tazz asked
Benoit if there was truth to the rumor that he may take the WWF title to
WCW if he was victorious. Benoit asked him what kind of question that
was and then smiled and said it was actually a good one. He walked away
with a smile on his face and Tazz looked puzzled.
Edge was then interviewed by Jonathan Coachman and he asked him how he
liked the sound of “2001 King of the Ring.” Edge smiled and said it
reeked of royalty and he loved it. Christian came in and said he was
just trying to help Edge when he went out there and Edge said of course.
Christian then went to get balloons to celebrate.
Angle was then shown in the back. He was furious and was yelling that
Shane would get it and he understood why he helped him win the first
match, so that he would have to wrestle another match and get more tired
out for their match.

William Regal was talking to Tajiri in the back. He was telling him how

the rumor of Jericho or Benoit taking the title to WCW. Vince did not
believe him and Regal confirmed it for him. Austin said he needed
Vince’s help and to get his ass to the arena. Vince apparently agreed.
More footage of DDP was shown and he flipped out again. He kept saying
he was in control and then ran into the ring with a mic. DDP called out
Undertaker and told him to come to the ring and get his ass kicked. More
footage was shown of DDP in the back from earlier in the evening.

against the railing and he pounded Page’s face. DDP ran over and
grabbed a chair and nailed Taker in the gut and then across the back.
Taker got up and tackled DDP across the announce table. Taker rolled DDP
back into the ring and stomped away at him in the corner. Taker threw
Page out of the ring and held him by the hair in front of Sarah’s
camera. Page rolled back in the ring and begged Taker to forgive him,
but Taker nailed him with a boot to the face. DDP rolled out of the ring
